The Solana Foundation launched a series of initiatives on Monday to enhance the overall security of the Solana ecosystem.

According to its blog post, the foundation is funding new security initiatives led by security firm Asymmetric Research.

"Solana Foundation has a long history of dedicating resources to ensure that security services and tools are available to the ecosystem, and today's announcement further strengthens that commitment," the post said.

One major initiative is STRIDE — Solana Trust, Resilience and Infrastructure for DeFi Enterprises. STRIDE is a structured program for monitoring and evaluating security in Solana projects.

Asymmetric will independently evaluate projects using its own security framework, according to the post. Evaluation results will be publicly available to users and investors.

As an incentive, protocols with more than $10 million in TVL that pass the evaluation will receive ongoing operations security support and active threat monitoring, funded by the foundation. Protocols with more than $100 million in TVL will be offered additional formal verification tools for smart contracts.

Alongside STRIDE, the foundation launched the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN) — a membership-based network of security firms and researchers dedicated to the Solana ecosystem. Founding participants include Asymmetric, OtterSec, and Neodyme.

SIRN is available to all Solana-based protocols, but access will be prioritized based on TVL, per the blog post.

Despite the addition of ecosystem-wide security initiatives, the Solana Foundation urged projects to maintain rigorous security measures.

"While Solana Foundation will continue to deploy resources to ensure a safer ecosystem that benefits everyone, this does not transfer the underlying responsibility away from the protocols themselves," the post said. "These resources are offered to ensure security, not replace what individual teams must do themselves."
