ArtByte supported artists by allowing art lovers to send ABY tokens directly as appreciation, effectively removing intermediaries from the monetization process. Artists could receive these tokens in their digital wallets. The project also featured a dedicated Twitter tipping application, enabling direct social media gratuities, and an online music store where artists could sell their digital works for ArtBytes, creating diverse avenues for direct artist compensation and fan engagement.

Artists needed an ArtByte wallet, which was accessible either as an online interface or a downloadable application compatible with various operating systems. Within their wallet, artists could easily locate their unique ArtByte wallet address, typically found under a 'Receive' tab. By promoting this specific wallet address on their social media platforms and other channels, artists enabled fans and supporters to send ABY tokens directly to them.

Users could acquire ArtByte tokens by 'mining' them using the free wallet application or by trading other cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, on various crypto exchanges. To send ArtBytes, users would directly transfer the tokens from their ArtByte wallet to an artist's designated wallet address. Additionally, the ArtByte Twitter Tipping App provided a convenient method for users to send tips to artists on Twitter using their linked accounts.

ArtByte operated on its own blockchain, initially utilizing a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, specifically Scrypt mining, characterized by ultra-fast block times. Around early 2022, the network transitioned to a hybrid Scrypt-based Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) code to enhance efficiency. The blockchain employed cryptographic techniques, including SHA-256, to ensure the security and integrity of all transactions processed on its network.

As of the latest information, ArtByte (ABY) is largely inactive and holds minimal relevance in the contemporary cryptocurrency ecosystem. There have been no significant updates or new releases from its development team for an extended period, and its official communication channels, including social media, show a lack of activity.
