BOOKUSD is a decentralized borrowing protocol built on the BNB Chain. Its native token, BUD, is a decentralized stablecoin designed to maintain a soft peg to the US Dollar. The protocol functions as a fork of the Liquity V1 model, utilizing BOOK tokens as the primary collateral. It is part of a broader ecosystem linked to the Book of Binance and Moon Shield initiatives, offering decentralized financial services to users on the BNB Smart Chain.

The protocol allows participants to access liquidity by locking their BOOK tokens as collateral to "mint" BUD stablecoins. This mechanism enables users to obtain spendable or reinvestable value without having to sell their underlying BOOK tokens, allowing them to maintain their long-term exposure to the asset. To mint BUD, users must connect a compatible Web3 wallet to the official dApp and open a dedicated "Trove" to deposit their collateral.

The Stability Pool is a core component of the protocol that acts as a liquidity buffer to ensure solvency. Users can deposit their BUD tokens into this pool to help absorb debt from under-collateralized positions. In exchange for providing this stability, providers earn liquidation rewards, which typically consist of receiving BOOK tokens at a discount. Additionally, participants may earn protocol-specific incentives and other ecosystem rewards as part of the system's yield-generating strategies.

BUD is a decentralized token on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC). Users can manage their tokens by adding the official contract address (0xc28957e946ac244612bcb205c899844cbbcb093d) to their Web3 wallets. Trading is available on major platforms such as LBank and various decentralized exchanges. The most common trading pairs usually involve other stablecoins or the native network token, providing ample liquidity for users to enter or exit positions.

Users must maintain a Collateral Ratio above the protocol's minimum requirement, often set at 110%, to avoid liquidation. Experienced participants suggest keeping a much higher ratio to protect against price volatility in the BOOK token. Regarding security, users should note that the protocol includes certain administrative permissions for contract creators. It is important for participants to weigh the high-yield opportunities against potential risks associated with liquidation mechanisms and governance structures.

As a soft-pegged stablecoin, BUD relies on decentralized arbitrage and economic incentives to stay near its target value. If the price of BUD falls below the peg, borrowers are incentivized to buy it at a discount on the open market to pay off their debt more cheaply, which reduces supply and increases demand. If the price exceeds the target, users are encouraged to mint more BUD to sell, helping to stabilize the value through market-driven forces.
