ECLIPSE (ES) FAQ
What is Eclipse?
Eclipse is an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain designed to enhance scalability and performance by integrating the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM). It aims to combine Solana's high throughput with Ethereum's security and liquidity, providing a robust environment for decentralized applications (dApps).
How does Eclipse work, and what is its underlying technology?
Eclipse employs a modular design. It uses the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) for transaction execution, enabling parallel processing and high transaction speeds (up to 9,000 transactions per second in tests). Ethereum is utilized for transaction settlement, ensuring security, while Celestia handles data availability to reduce costs and improve efficiency. This hybrid approach creates localized fee markets, aiming to prevent network congestion if one dApp experiences high activity.
What are the primary uses of the ES token?
The ES token is the native utility and governance token of the Eclipse network. Its primary uses include: gas for transaction fees on the Eclipse chain, enabling fast and low-cost transfers; governance, allowing token holders to vote on protocol upgrades, fee structure changes, MEV redistribution, and sequencing rules; staking, where users can stake ES tokens to earn rewards and contribute to network security; and ecosystem development, supporting the building of applications and tools within the Eclipse system.
What are the key tokenomics of the ES token?
The ES token has a fixed total supply of 1 billion tokens. Token allocations prioritize ecosystem growth (35%) and community incentives, including airdrops and liquidity (15%). Team and investor tokens are subject to a vesting schedule, with many locked for 3-4 years. The initial circulating supply will be determined at the Token Generation Event (TGE).
How could users obtain ES tokens, particularly through the airdrop?
Eclipse conducted an airdrop program, distributing 100 million ES tokens (10% of the total supply) to early supporters. Eligibility for the airdrop was based on activities such as playing games like Turbo Tap, engaging on social media platforms like X, and participating in the Eclipse Discord community. The airdrop started on July 16, 2025, and the claim window closed on August 15, 2025. Users could claim tokens via a supported Ethereum-connected wallet.
Who founded and leads the Eclipse project?
Eclipse's leadership team includes Vijay Chetty as CEO, who has experience in business development at major crypto protocols like XRP, dYdX, and Uniswap. The project was founded in 2022 and has successfully raised $65 million through multiple funding rounds, including a $50 million Series A round led by Placeholder and Hack VC.
