Persistence One is a specialized layer one blockchain built within the Cosmos ecosystem using the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus mechanism. Its primary mission is to provide the infrastructure for a decentralized liquid staking economy and to act as a liquidity hub for the emerging Bitcoin decentralized finance sector. The project addresses the capital inefficiency of traditional proof of stake models where assets are locked during staking. By focusing on liquid staking tokens, Persistence One allows users to secure the network and earn rewards while maintaining the liquidity of their assets. These liquid tokens can then be utilized across various decentralized finance protocols for activities such as lending, borrowing, and providing liquidity. A central component of the ecosystem is pSTAKE Finance, a protocol that facilitates the issuance of liquid staked assets. Another key element is Dexter, the native decentralized exchange that serves as a liquidity hub for yield-generating assets and liquid tokens. Recently, the project has expanded its focus to include Bitcoin interoperability. It aims to unify fragmented liquidity across different Bitcoin layer two networks, enabling cross chain swaps for Bitcoin variants with minimal slippage. The native utility token of the network is XPRT. It serves several core functions within the ecosystem. First, it is a staking token used to secure the blockchain through a delegated proof of stake system. Second, it acts as a governance tool, allowing token holders to propose and vote on protocol changes or the allocation of community resources. Third, it is used as a work token that powers the network by paying for transaction fees and incentivizing validators. Technically, Persistence One leverages the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol to connect with other chains in the Cosmos network. It also integrates with specialized protocols like Babylon to enhance its security by leveraging the security of the Bitcoin network. The platform supports smart contracts through CosmWasm, which allows developers to build custom applications that interact with liquid staked assets. Overall, Persistence One functions as a bridge between traditional staking and broader decentralized finance utility, specifically targeting the growth of liquid staking and Bitcoin-related financial services.
