Undead Blocks is a Web3 first-person shooter game centered on a zombie survival theme. Developed by Wagyu Games, it is often described as a kill-to-earn title that blends traditional arcade-style gameplay with blockchain technology. The project is primarily built on the Ethereum network, though it has expanded its ecosystem through integrations with other scalable networks such as Immutable X and Hedera to improve transaction efficiency for players. The core gameplay revolves around surviving endless waves of zombies. Players can choose from several modes including Solo, where they fight alone, and Squads, which allows for multiplayer collaboration. Other specialized modes include Speedrun, where players aim to clear waves as quickly as possible, and Massacre, which focuses on achieving the highest kill count within a set timeframe. As players progress through a match, they earn experience points for successful hits and headshots. These points can be used during the session to unlock new weapons, purchase grenades, or open doors to new areas of the map. A central feature of the project is the use of non-fungible tokens known as NFTs. Players can own digital assets in the form of weapon loadouts, character skins, and other cosmetic items. While the game offers a free-to-play version that allows anyone to participate, owning or renting specific NFT weapon loadouts grants access to VIP modes and higher reward tiers. This system ensures that players have true ownership of their in-game assets, which can be traded or upgraded. The ecosystem utilizes a primary token known as UNDEAD. This token serves several functions within the project. It acts as a governance token, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes regarding the future development and direction of the game. Additionally, the token is used for staking, where users can lock their tokens to earn rewards or participate in stake-to-mint programs to acquire new NFT weapons. It also plays a role in the broader economy by being the asset that players can acquire when they swap their in-game reward currencies. In-game rewards are typically distributed through a secondary system involving ZBUX. There are two types of these rewards: Standard ZBUX and Gold ZBUX. Standard ZBUX are earned through general gameplay and are used for character progression and weapon upgrades. Gold ZBUX are earned through achievements, daily leaderboards, and special challenges, and they serve as the bridge between gameplay achievements and the broader crypto ecosystem. By focusing on skill-based mechanics and digital ownership, Undead Blocks aims to provide a sustainable gaming environment that appeals to both traditional gamers and blockchain enthusiasts.
