VANGUARD VALUE ETF (ONDO TOKENIZED) (VTVON) FAQ
What is the Vanguard Value ETF (Ondo Tokenized), also known as VTVon?
VTVon is a digital token that provides total-return exposure to the Vanguard Value ETF (VTV). This Real World Asset (RWA) project mirrors the economic performance of VTV, which tracks large-cap U.S. value stocks. While the token is not a direct share of the ETF, it allows users to track price changes and dividends of the underlying traditional financial product on the blockchain.
How are dividends handled for VTVon holders?
VTVon does not provide direct cash dividend payouts. Instead, dividends generated by the underlying Vanguard Value ETF are automatically reinvested into additional shares of the ETF. This reinvestment is reflected in the token's value or quantity and is processed net of a 30% U.S. withholding tax.
Who is eligible to purchase and trade VTVon tokens?
Access to VTVon is strictly limited to non-U.S. persons located outside of the United States. Due to regulatory requirements, U.S. citizens and residents are prohibited from minting, holding, or trading these tokens. Additionally, users must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) and onboarding process to access the primary market.
On which blockchain networks can I find VTVon?
To ensure broad accessibility within the decentralized finance ecosystem, VTVon is currently supported on three major blockchains: Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana (utilizing the Token-2022 standard), and BNB Chain.
How is VTVon backed and what are the security protocols?
Every VTVon token is backed 1:1 by shares of the Vanguard Value ETF (VTV). These shares are held in custody by Alpaca Securities LLC, a licensed U.S. broker-dealer. Furthermore, Ondo Finance undergoes regular audits, and the assets held in custody are verified by a third-party audit firm, BPM UK Audit Ltd.
Where can VTVon be traded and why might the price vary from traditional brokerages?
VTVon can be traded on the primary market through the Ondo platform or on the secondary market via exchanges like LBank and various decentralized liquidity pairs. Slight price deviations from the underlying ETF on traditional brokerage platforms may occur due to blockchain latency, the 30% dividend withholding tax for non-U.S. entities, or specific liquidity conditions on the exchange.
